Myofunctional Therapy in Amarillo, TX
Hi, I’m Carley Powers, M.S., CCC-SLP, QOM, a speech-language pathologist and Qualified Orofacial Myologist with a passion for helping children and adults improve the way they breathe, speak, eat, swallow, and rest.I have been practicing as a speech-language pathologist since 2020, with specialized training and experience in orofacial myofunctional disorders, speech sound disorders, oral-motor development, feeding, airway-focused therapy, and tethered oral tissues. Over the years, my work has become increasingly focused on looking beyond the symptom and understanding why a patient may be struggling in the first place.I work with patients on areas such as nasal breathing, lip closure, tongue resting posture, tongue and jaw coordination, chewing and swallowing patterns, speech production, and overall oral function. I also frequently collaborate with dentists, orthodontists, ENTs, release providers, and other healthcare professionals because these concerns often require a team approach. My clinical experience includes working with patients with concerns such as mouth breathing, low tongue posture, tongue thrust, articulation difficulties, narrow or high-arched palates, oral habits, orthodontic concerns, feeding difficulties, and tongue and lip ties. I also provide therapy before and after procedures such as frenectomies and alongside orthodontic treatment when appropriate.I believe therapy should be both evidence-informed and individualized. No two patients walk through the door with exactly the same anatomy, history, habits, or goals, so treatment shouldn’t look exactly the same either. My goal is to help patients build functional skills that carry over beyond the therapy room and into everyday life.I created The Airway Studio to provide a space where families feel heard, where we can look at the whole picture, and where therapy can be collaborative, intentional, and personal. I love educating families on the why behind what we’re doing and helping them understand how the tongue, jaw, breathing, speech, swallowing, and airway all work together. Most of all, I consider it a privilege to serve the families who trust me with their care. I’m grateful to do work that I genuinely love and to help my patients build healthier, more functional patterns that can serve them for years to come.

Meet Janet | Dental Hygienist & Myofunctional Therapist
With over two decades of experience as a dental hygienist, Janet has always been passionate about patient care. However, her professional path took a transformative turn when she began searching for natural, effective ways to resolve her own issues with sleep and breathing.
That personal search led her to myofunctional therapy—and the results were life-changing.
Experiencing the benefits firsthand showed Janet just how powerful—and surprisingly simple—myofunctional therapy can be. Realizing the profound impact it could have on her patients' overall health, she expanded her practice to specialize in airway and oral posture health.
Today, Janet combines her 20+ years of clinical dental expertise with specialized myofunctional therapy to help patients get to the root cause of their breathing and sleep challenges. She loves taking complex, systemic issues and offering straightforward, natural solutions that make a world of difference.
Janet’s mission is simple: to help her patients breathe, sleep, and live better.
